DesktopLEAM
DesktopLEAM is a web interface that allows for direct user interaction with the LEAM land use change model. A built-in component of the Planning Portal, DesktopLEAM provides users with the in-house ability to generate development and policy simulations, analyze results, and study the potential impacts.
How does it work?
DesktopLEAM adds two new tabs to a Planning Portal: Model Run and Scenario Results. In Model Run, input files to the model are uploaded, such as existing landcover or employment centers. These are in the form of standard shapefiles. In addition, Model Run contains a query form that takes the user through a series of options for setting up a model simulation run.
Once the model has completed its simulation, results are automatically uploaded to the Scenario Results tab, in a folder named after that simulation. These results come in many forms for the convenience of the user, including summary tables and graphs, summary maps, and raw data.
For situations in which the land use model is linked to a travel demand or other model, a single interface provides the ability to run both models in conjunction.
