Projections of land use change and economic growth are powerful tools that can be used to assist in many different policy and planning projects. But they can also be taken a step further and applied to some of the additional impacts of growth and development, such as environmental impacts and social costs.
Results from both the land use change and economic models can be plugged into a multitude of secondary models, producing information on changes in water quality and quantity of urban runoff, stress to species habitat, and public and household costs of new development, to name a few.
